TA (Tablet Academy Ltd) Provide Further Consultancy & Teacher Training To $174 Million Education Project

Telford September 2022: TA (Tablet Academy Ltd), has won a contract to continue supporting the Ministry of Education in Guyana in transforming education across the country by providing further consultancy and teacher training services as part of a $174 Million project funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) UNICEF.

Guyana Minister of Education Dr. Priya Manickchand “COVID-19 hit us, as a world, extremely hard and the shock it created to education systems around the world has been immense. The fact is that we were not prepared for the type of school where we would have to deliver education to our teachers and students not in the classroom, but in their living rooms”.

Nevertheless, Manickchand says, Guyana has been coping well, as evident by the launch of a $174 Million online learning initiative with TA as principal consultant and training partner. In restructuring the education system to suit a more tech-savvy population, the education minister said that a serious problem was uncovered – not many teachers or students had proper access to internet services, devices or more importantly the skills to suit this method of education delivery.

“We had to look at our existing technological infrastructure, computers, internet, smart classrooms, and found we had a serious deficit of internet connectivity that would allow real-time teaching across the country which severely hampered students, not only this but our teachers and students lacked the necessary skills, and so we looked to TA not only to provide training but how we could resolve this problem”

Of the contract, Professor Steve Molyneux, Chairman and co-founder of Tablet Academy said “Our team are excited about our continued working with the Ministry in Guyana in helping them develop and implement a Digital Transformation strategy across the country. The pandemic has forced governments worldwide to look at different ways of supporting the education of young people post-Covid, and we are happy to assist Guyana as we have many other countries”.

TA has already fully trained 60 Master Teachers across Guyana in the use of Microsoft Teams, Minecraft Education Edition, and other transformative technologies. Phase 2 is providing advanced training to these teachers, as well as the training of Head Teachers and Ministry officials such as school inspectors and other civil servants in the use of such tools to enhance the productivity of their work practices.

About TA: TA (Tablet Academy Ltd) was founded in 2013 by Professor Steve Molyneux and Mark Yorke.
