Tablet Academy International SL, a consulting and educational training company based in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands), has won a contract to support the Ministry of Education in Guyana. The contract consists of supporting the Ministry in the transformation of school education throughout the country through the provision of consulting and teacher training services.
Tablet Academy International is the administrative headquarters of the Tablet Academy franchise group located in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). It has several key customers and partners from across the education sector, including Google, Microsoft, Intel, HP, Lenovo and has provided advice to governments in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This is his first government contract in South America.
Tablet Academy currently teaches more than 37,000 teachers a year on how to get the best out of technology to support their students’ learning, and their services are delivered face-to-face or, now more often, remotely through Microsoft Teams, Google Meeting, or Zoom.
On the contract, Professor Steve Molyneux, President and Co-Founder of Tablet Academy, said: “Our team is excited to work with the Ministry in Guyana to help them develop and implement a digital transformation strategy for education across the country. The COVID pandemic has forced education to study different ways to support youth education and we are happy to help where we can.” Initially 60 teachers from all over Guyana will be trained as Digital Trainers to support their colleagues in using Microsoft Teams, Minecraft Education Edition and other transformative technologies. The contract will be coordinated by Tablet Academy International based in Fuerteventura and co-delivered by Tablet Academy (United Kingdom) who have extensive experience in transforming UK schools.
Professor Molyneux is well known in the UK as an advanced thinker in the transformation of education and is a visiting professor of Educational Innovation at Lamar University in Texas, USA. He moved to Fuerteventura in 2018 to create, with his friend Mark Yorke, Tablet Academy International SL.
